Knubbly Privacy Policy
Effective date: 28 October 2026
This policy covers Knubbly, the knitting and crochet row counter for iPhone and Apple Watch, published by Nerd Cow Ltd.
The app collects no data
Knubbly does not collect or share information about you with us. Nothing you count is sent to us: we have no server for the app and cannot see your projects, counts or settings.
- No Knubbly account and no sign-in to us.
- No analytics.
- No advertising.
- No tracking.
What stays on your iPhone
Knubbly keeps your projects on the phone: their names, craft, row counts, repeats and their order in your list, with dates used to keep changes in step. It also remembers your settings, the project you last opened and whether Pro was unlocked. A small local record of completed actions, days and app versions controls when the app can ask for a rating. None of this is sent to us.
Keep in iCloud (Knubbly Pro)
With Knubbly Pro, your projects can be kept in your own private iCloud database through your Apple Account. Keep in iCloud is on by default; syncing needs Pro and an available iCloud account. You can turn it off in Settings. The change takes effect the next time Knubbly opens and does not delete your projects from the phone or remove an existing iCloud copy.
That database belongs to your iCloud account. We cannot read it. Apple stores it under Apple’s privacy policy. The app remembers iCloud’s status and the time of the last successful save on the phone to show you whether your work is being saved.
Daily copies (Knubbly Pro)
Knubbly Pro makes a daily copy of your projects, including their counts and repeats, and keeps the newest 30 daily copies. It makes one when you first open Knubbly that day and updates it when you leave the app after a change. If every project is still at zero with no repeat, no copy is made. These copies are separate from the live projects, so restoring one does not remove the other copies.
Copies are stored in the app’s own iCloud Drive storage when Keep in iCloud is on and iCloud Drive is available. Otherwise, they are stored on the iPhone. Switching this setting or losing Pro does not delete copies already made. The app removes older copies as it makes room for newer days, rather than deleting a copy exactly 30 calendar days after it was made. Copies are not sent to us.
Apple Watch
The Watch receives your project list, counts and repeats from your paired iPhone and sends count changes back to it through Apple’s WatchConnectivity. The Watch keeps a local copy of the projects it receives, including count changes waiting to reach the phone. It does not send your projects directly to iCloud or to us. The Watch also checks with Apple whether Knubbly Pro is unlocked.
Deleting your data
To delete a project, swipe left on it in Projects, tap Delete and confirm. If iCloud sync is active, that deletion also syncs to your other iPhones. Older daily copies can still contain the project.
Deleting the app removes its local projects, settings and local daily copies, but not data already in iCloud. Remove the Watch app too to clear its local copy.
To remove Knubbly’s data from iCloud, first turn off Keep in iCloud and close Knubbly on your iPhones. Open your iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, Storage (Manage Account Storage on some versions), Knubbly, and Delete Data from iCloud. This removes Knubbly’s stored iCloud data, including daily copies, for that Apple Account. Turning sync back on can upload projects still on a phone again. Any separate device backups you keep are managed in Apple’s backup settings.
Buying Knubbly Pro
Apple handles Pro purchases, subscriptions and refunds. The app uses Apple’s StoreKit to check whether Pro is unlocked, under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not see your payment details. Knubbly has no network code of its own: iCloud, purchases and communication between your phone and Watch use Apple’s services.
